Registering Inks
Create and manage ink inventory records (bottles/batches) in the Ink Registration extension.
You create inks (inventory records) in the Ink Registration extension.
Where to create inks
Go to Extensions → Ink Registration → create a new ink.
What An Ink Record Contains
An ink record is designed to represent a real bottle/batch you want to track.
Required fields
- Identifier (for example
#123) – unique inside your organization (TatTool can auto-generate it) - Batch number – the manufacturer lot/batch identifier (recommended to enter the real batch number)
- Name
- Brand
- Color
Optional fields (recommended for better compliance workflows)
- Expiration date (the label expiration date)
- Open status + open date (if the bottle has been opened)
- Retailer (the place or supplier the ink was bought from)
- Location (if you want inks to show up only for a specific location)
- Assigned artist (if you want the ink restricted to one artist’s bookings)
- Notes
- Data sheet (PDF attached to this ink)
Retailers are managed separately
To choose a retailer on an ink, first create it in Extensions → Ink Registration → Retailers.
Then return to the ink form and select it from the Retailer field.
Identifier (Why It Matters)
The ink identifier is the quick “inventory number” you see in the UI (like #123).
- It is unique per organization.
- If you don’t enter one, TatTool generates the next available identifier automatically.
Active vs Inactive
- Active inks are available when registering inks on bookings.
- Inactive inks are kept for record-keeping but are not suggested for new registrations.
Recommended policy
Deactivate inks you no longer want used (expired, recalled, disposed, etc.) instead of deleting them.
