Events & Scheduling
Events are the building blocks of the calendar: bookings, consultations, guest events, time off, closures, and announcements.
TatTool schedules work as events.
Events share a few common ideas:
- They live on the calendar
- They relate to a member (participant/assignee) and a location
- They follow conflict rules (for example time off blocks availability)

Common Event Types
Bookings
Bookings represent the service you deliver (the tattoo appointment).
Bookings typically include:
- Client
- Participant (artist)
- Location
- Optional flows
- Payments (created from the booking’s Payments tab)
Consultations
Consultations are pre-booking meetings and are more flexible than bookings in scheduling rules.
Guest Events
Guest events represent time where a member is working at a different location (guesting), affecting availability and conflict rules.
Time Off
Time off blocks a member’s availability. If a time off exists, overlapping bookings cannot be created.
Location Closures
Closures block availability for a location (for example holidays or unexpected closures).
Announcements
Announcements are calendar notices used for internal communication.
Where To Create Events
Most events can be created from the Calendar page:
- Use the Create button, or a create shortcut if available
- Select the event type
Key Scheduling Principle
Time off and closures are designed to prevent accidental overbooking.
If something “can’t be scheduled”, first check:
- The member’s time off
- The location’s closures
- Conflicting bookings/guest events
