Time off

Block a member’s availability so bookings, consultations, and guest events cannot overlap.

Time-offs mark periods where a member is not available: vacations, sick days, personal time, or anything else that should block bookings.

In TatTool, time-offs are simple by design and strictly enforced by calendar rules.

Operational effect

Time off blocks scheduling. If a time off exists, you cannot create or move overlapping events for that member.

What Time-Offs Do

Time-offs:

  • Block availability for the selected member
  • Prevent creation of bookings, consultations, and guest events for that member during the same time frame
  • Can apply to one location or all locations
  • Can be hour-based or all-day (multi-day)

If a time-off exists, the member is unavailable. No exceptions.

Creating A Time-Off

Use any Create action in the app and select Time off from the event list (for example from the Calendar page, or with Cmd + I).

Choose Date And Time

You can:

  • Type directly into the date/time input
  • Click the calendar icon to open the date picker popover

All-Day Time-Off (Optional)

Enable All day to switch from selecting a start/end time to selecting two dates. This is ideal for vacations or longer absences.

All-day time-offs:

  • Do not appear in the hourly grid
  • Appear in the all-day header at the top of the calendar

Select Participant

Choose the member the time-off applies to. Time-offs are always tied to a specific member.

Select Location (Optional)

  • If a location is selected, the time-off only blocks availability in that location
  • If no location is selected, the time-off applies to all locations

Add Description (Optional)

Internal notes only. Useful for context like Vacation, Sick leave, or Conference.

Save

The time-off immediately blocks availability according to the selected dates and times.

Calendar Behavior

Time-offs block creation of bookings, consultations, and guest events for the selected member during the same time range. This applies regardless of how the other event is created:

  • Dragging in the calendar
  • Using Create buttons
  • Editing existing events

If an event would overlap a time-off, it cannot be created or saved.

Viewing And Editing Time-Offs

Click the time-off directly in the calendar to open it. All selected values are shown.

Click any value to edit it:

  • Date and time
  • All-day setting
  • Participant
  • Location
  • Description

Changes apply immediately after saving.

Deleting Time-Offs

Time-offs can be deleted. Unlike bookings:

  • They cannot be cancelled
  • They can only be fully removed

This keeps time-offs unambiguous: either the member is unavailable, or they are not.
